The
investigation has identified the vehicle operated by Stevie A. Jorgensen was
traveling south on Highway 12 / N. Superior Avenue when it failed to stop
for a red traffic control signal.
Jorgensen’s vehicle was struck on the driver side by a vehicle travelling
west on Veterans Street. The
striking vehicle was being operated by Dean I. Pierce of Tomah.
The impact of the crash resulted in Jorgensen’s vehicle striking a
vehicle on W. Veterans Street that was waiting to make a left turn to travel
north. This vehicle was being
operated by Deana K. Brabant, also of Tomah.
Jorgensen’s vehicle partially overturned and came to rest on the
passenger side.
Stevie
Jorgensen was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The autopsy revealed Stevie Jorgensen died as a result of massive
head injuries.

– Stevie A. Jorgensen (F/W, 29-years-old)
Deana K.
Brabant – (F/W, 45-years-old) received non-life threatening injuries and was
transported by Tomah Area Ambulance to Tomah Memorial hospital.
Dean I.
Pierce – (M/W, 58-years-old) evaluated on scene by Emergency Medical
Technicians, released.
The
Tomah Police Department continues to investigate this crash with assistance
from the Wisconsin State Patrol Technical Reconstruction Unit.
Portions
of the intersection remained closed from the time of the crash until the
completion of the on-scene investigation (3:10 p.m. – 5:38 p.m.).
Agencies
assisting at the scene included the Monroe County Communication Center,
Tomah Fire Dept. Tomah Area Ambulance, Wisconsin State Patrol, Tomah Dept of
Public Works, and the Warrens First Responders.

Details:
On Aug 1, 2013 at approx 3:10pm the Tomah Police Department responded to a
three vehicle traffic crash at the intersection of Superior Ave and Veterans
St. Shortly after arrival
it was determined that the driver of one of the vehicles, a 29 year old
female from the Tomah area, was deceased.
The operator of the second vehicle was transported to the Tomah
Memorial Hospital by the Tomah Area Ambulance with what appeared to be
non-life threatening injuries.
The operator of the third vehicle was not injured.
The
cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The Wisconsin State Patrol Technical Reconstruction Unit was called
to assist at the crash scene.
Agencies
assisting at the scene included the Tomah Police Dept,
Tomah Fire Dept. Tomah Area Ambulance, Wisconsin State Patrol, Tomah
Dept of Public Works, and the Warrens First Responders.
