UPDATED INFORMATION AS OF JUNE 15, 2010
Tammy S. Cole waived extradition this
morning, June 15, 2010. She will be transported by the Monroe
County Sheriff’s Department Transport Team from the Boone County Jail in
Illinois back to the Monroe County Jail in Sparta.
A bond hearing will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at
the Monroe County Courthouse, Sparta, Wisconsin
UPDATED INFORMATION AS OF JUNE 10, 2010
The Wisconsin Crime Laboratory personnel completed a thorough
examination of the victim’s residence on April 27, 2010. Numerous
evidentiary items were found at the location of the homicide; most
of which have been examined by laboratory personnel. Investigators
have spent several days conducting interviews and gathering information
in Kane and Boone Counties in Illinois.
A forensic autopsy was completed. The findings determined that Vance
Evans died as the result of a single gunshot wound to the back of the
head.
Today we announce that we have concluded that Vance Evans was the victim
of a Homicidal act. As a result of the investigative findings, and in
consultation with Monroe County District Attorney Dan Cary, we have
filed a Criminal Complaint and Arrest Warrant for:
Tammy S. Cole of 8S918 Dugan Road, Big Rock, Il Tammy Cole’s
Date of Birth is January 31, 1964.
Tammy S. Cole is charged with First Degree Intentional Homicide; Use of
a Dangerous Weapon in the death of Vance L. Evans, a Homicide that
occurred on or about Tuesday, April 27, 2010, in the City of Tomah.
Throughout this investigation, Investigator Robert Walensky of the Tomah
Police Department and Special Agent John Christophersen of the Wisconsin
Division of Criminal Investigations have conducted numerous
interviews and gathered information pertaining to the death of
Vance Evans. A incident of this magnitude calls for a great deal of
investigative focus and resources. Smaller agencies such as ours have
the luxury of calling on the Wisconsin Department of Justice and their
resources as needed. Their investigative, analytical and technological
expertise have played a significant role in this homicide investigation.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. on June 10, 2010, Tammy S. Cole, turned
herself in to law enforcement officers at the Boone County, Il.
Sheriff’s Department.
Tammy S. Cole is charged with First Degree Intentional Homicide; Use of
a Dangerous Weapon in the death of Vance L. Evans, a Homicide that
occurred on or about Tuesday, April 27, 2010, in the City of Tomah.
UPDATED INFORMATION AS OF MAY 11, 2010
As of May 11,2010 Investigators are continuing to conduct interviews and
gather information pertaining to this death investigation. A special
agent from the Wisconsin Department Justice, Division of Criminal
Investigation is working with Investigator Rob Walensky from the Tomah
Police Department. This investigative resource enhances the efficiency
and timeliness of the large volume of investigative activities that need
to be completed.
The Wisconsin Crime Laboratory personnel completed a thorough
examination of the victim’s residence on April 27, 2010. The evidentiary
items that were gathered at the location of the incident are at the
Wisconsin Crime Laboratory and being processed.
Investigators have spent several days conducting interviews and
gathering information in and around the area of Illinois where Mr. Evans
resided for approximately thirty years. Investigators are also waiting
for responses related to information being obtained via subpoenas.
More information will be provided as the investigation progresses.
UPDATED INFORMATION AS OF APRIL 28, 2010
As of April 28, 2010, an autopsy of the victim has been performed. At this time, the cause of death was as the result of a gunshot wound. Investigators are continuing to conduct interviews and gather information pertaining to this death investigation.

Victim: Vance L. Evans, M/W, 53 yoa. The victim was
found dead at this residence.
Summary of Incident:
On April 27, 2010 at 1:24 a.m., the Monroe County Communications Center
received a 911 call requesting officers to respond to 316 Woodard Avenue
in the City of Tomah. Officers found Vance L. Evans dead.
The Tomah Police Department requested assistance from the Wisconsin
Crime Lab, Field Response Unit, along with the Monroe County District
Attorneys Office. The Field Response personnel arrived at the Tomah
Police Department at about 6:30 a.m. During the preliminary scene
investigation, investigators found that Evans appeared to have suffered
from a gunshot wound.
The body of the victim will be transported to Madison for an autopsy and
toxicology. The death remains under investigation. Anyone with

Summary of Incident:
On April 27, 2010 at approx 1:24 a.m. the Monroe County Communications
Center received a 911 call requesting officers to respond to a residence
on the 300 block of Woodard Ave in the City of Tomah. Upon arrival
officers located a white male, 56 years of age, deceased.
The Wisconsin Crime Lab, Field Response Unit, along with the Monroe
County District Attorneys Office are assisting the Tomah Police
Department.
The death remains under investigation.
